India A Women start T20 campaign with a big win

The hosts trounced Bangladesh A by eight wickets

India A Women cantered to an eight-wicket win over Bangladesh A in the first T20 game of the three-match series.

India bowled Bangladesh out for 57 with 21 balls to spare after the visitors elected to bat at the KSCA Stadium in Belgaum.

Off the third ball of the innings, Sarmin Sultana was run out by Jemimah Rodrigues with two runs on the board. In the next over Anuja Patil reduced Bangladesh to six for two by sending back Shaila Sharmin. 13 runs later Pooja Vastrakar accounted for Fargana Hoque to push the visiting side further on the back-foot.

While Rumana Ahmed tried to keep the innings afloat, Indians continued to strike at the other end. Nigar Sultana Joty was trapped lbw for naught while Salma Khatun was run out by Patil for zero leaving the opponents reeling at 35 for five. 13 runs later, Rumana too was dismissed for 24 by D Hemalatha. Radha Yadav then claimed two while the India skipper picked one to leave Bangladesh on 57 for nine. Yadav then ran out Panna Gosh to wrap-up the innings.

Chasing a sub-par total, India lost Vanitha VR (14) with 16 runs on the board. Taniya Bhatia, who then joined S Meghana was later sent back for four leaving the side on 37 for two. The opener then took the team to victory with an unbeaten 30 with Devika Vaidya (11).
